NEWSKFM : Interstate 15 : Northbound I-15 is closed at 14600 South Thursday morning while crews work to clean up a multi-vehicle accident involving an oil spill. An Amazon semitruck was northbound on I-15 near 14200 South around midnight when it blocked the right lane, according to UHP Sgt. Cameron Rhoden. A car entered the freeway at 14600 south and merged with traffic to avoid a semitruck. A speeding pickup truck hit the back of the car.
THE ALPINE SECRET FOR HEALTHY WEIGHT LOSS.
Roden said another semitruck with two crude tankers, which was going too fast for the conditions in the area, lost control and slammed into the back of the Amazon truck. The previous tanker overturned and spilled into the median, spilling about 1,500 gallons of crude oil onto the freeway. Hazmat workers are on scene to help with the cleanup. Northbound traffic is being detoured from the freeway to 14600 South and Bangorter Highway. Roden said I-15 is expected to remain closed until at least 8 or 9 p.m. After that, partial closure is likely till midnight.
No serious injuries were reported. There were a few more crashes in the Salt Lake Valley, as the National Weather Service reported nearly two inches of snow overnight.
